We are a grassroots humanitarian initiative turned full-scale nonprofit organization, dedicated to supporting Israel’s most vulnerable.
Hi everyone, my name is Yafit Hadassah Benin, director of the Wish Fulfillment Department for children with cancer. I want to share my story with you.
I myself went through a very difficult period with many challenges and hospitals. There were days of fear, worries and very challenging moments, but there were also moments of hope – moments in which I imagined the things I would like to make come true.
Today, after I managed to get through this period, I am here to help other children who are going through what I went through. I run a project called “Wish Fulfillment” for children with cancer, and I get to give them little moments of happiness, in the hope that they will experience the same light that I experienced. It moves me every time to see their smile, to know that I am part of this journey and to make their dreams come true for them.
My name is Yaniv Smadja, the chairman of the Their Smile is in Our Hands association. I want to share my story with you.
I was a single father, raising two amazing children alone, without any preparation or support, and had to deal with many daily challenges. There were difficult days, days when I felt like I didn’t know how I would get through them, but I always knew that what needed to guide me was love, giving, and a desire to help. Despite all the difficulties, I found the strength to continue to be a milestone for my children, while maintaining optimism and a desire to make people happy and spread goodness. Today, I am proud to be the chairman of an association for children with cancer, because I know what it is like to feel alone in the struggle. Above all, I want to be there for them, to offer them hope, a listening ear, and moments of happiness. Meeting these children and families gives me strength and reminds me of the importance of giving, sharing, and being there – even when it’s hard, even when it requires a lot.

Following the outbreak of war in Israel in 2023, she established and managed one of the country’s largest civilian emergency response centers – providing immediate aid to frontline soldiers, displaced families, and victims of terror. In parallel, she led a major fundraising campaign for the Rehabilitation Department at Ichilov Hospital, successfully securing critical resources to support the recovery of injured soldiers and returning hostages.
Recognized as a leading figure in the field of humanitarian aid, she is known for her ability to operate under pressure, build effective infrastructure in real time, and cultivate trust among donors and partners.
Under her leadership, every donation is translated into direct action – delivering targeted assistance, a helping hand and hope.
Since the outbreak of the recent war, thousands of families across Israel have lost their homes, their livelihoods, and in many cases — their sense of safety and hope. The physical and emotional toll is enormous, and the road to recovery is long and uncertain.
In response to these unprecedented times, “Their Smile Is in Our Hands” was born — a grassroots humanitarian initiative turned full-scale nonprofit organization, dedicated to supporting Israel’s most vulnerable: soldiers on the front lines, displaced families, trauma victims, and shattered communities.
We are reaching out to Jewish communities and friends of Israel around the world — to partner with us and help carry this mission forward.
Because time is critical.
Because needs are overwhelming.
Because even the smallest gesture can bring back light into someone’s life.
